About :
This is Akshaya and I am a conscientious and empathetic person. I believe active listening, being non judgemental and congruent with the client can help build rapport and provide the space to open up better by the client. I am particularly interested in research and its application, as it allows me to better understand and expand my knowledge of the field. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Applied Psychology, and I have worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centre, special school, and care facility. As an avid learner and inquisitive soul, I was able to comprehend and apply myself in such fields. I also consider learning to be lifelong and I would like to seek out opportunities to grow and upskill, to help clients more efficiently.
I believe that everyone has the potential to be the best versions of themselves and all they need is guidance and means to get there. I believe in viewing individuals holistically and that self care and introspection lead the way to solving problems in one's life. As it can enable an individual to become more resilient when they are confronted with similar problems in the future. I am passionate about art and believe that it can be therapeutic in any form. As the world develops, so do the competitions and expectations, and I strive to de-stigmatise and psychoeducate on mental health and its various aspects. As humans with different abilities, attributes and potential, we can be enabled to realise how to fully advance along with this fast paced world. My hobbies include drawing, painting, yoga and exercise. Though I am an introvert, I also love to engage and uplift and be uplifted by individuals I meet. It is always fascinating to know a little bit about yourself everyday.
